Amboseli National Park
The Park is famous for being the best place in the whole of Africa to get close-range views of Elephants as well as the spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro-Africa’s tallest Mountain.
Furthermore, Four of the Big Five can be found here with the exception of the Rhino. The other common wildlife to spot here include the Buffalo, Gazelle, Wildebeest and Burchell’s Zebra.
The Park encloses an interesting variety of habitats ranging from the dusty plains, marshy swamps, dried-up bed of lake Amboseli, wetlands with Sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands.
The reserve boasts of the Samburu Six (rare northern specialist species) such as the Somali Ostrich, Grevy Zebra, Gerenuk, The Beisa Oryx (Samburu Special), Guenther’s Dik Dik and the Reticulated Giraffe.
The reserve is also home to large herds of Elephants while predators like the Lion, Cheetah and Leopard can be spotted in this rugged terrain. Samburu National Reserve is also a birding spot having over 450 species of birds.
