Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park is a small but diverse national park located in northern Tanzania, at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Covering about 330 square kilometers, nearly two-thirds of the park is occupied by the scenic Lake Manyara, a shallow alkaline lake that attracts thousands of flamingos and other bird species.
The park is renowned for its rich biodiversity and contrasting landscapes — from groundwater forests and open savannahs to marshlands and acacia woodlands. It is famously home to the tree-climbing lions, large herds of elephants, hippos, giraffes, and over 400 bird species.
Easily accessible from Arusha, Lake Manyara National Park offers excellent game viewing, bird watching, and breathtaking views, making it a perfect stop on the northern safari circuit alongside Serengeti and Ngorongoro.
